Refresher Training
The degree of retraining required is highly dependent on the level of proficiency acquired by the jumper prior to the layoff.
As a general rule, while on student status if you have not made a jump in 30 or more days you should receive refresher training. A License holders who have not made a jump in the preceding 60 days, and B License holders who have not jumped in 90 days should receive training before jumping again.
Emergency procedures are reviewed in all cases. Practice in a hanging harness is highly recommended. Hanging harness training is also highly recommended for all students every 30 days until they receive their A License.
In most cases after a long layoff licensed jumpers should make one jump under the direct supervision of an instructor. On that jump they are required to demonstrate the ability to maintain altitude awareness, freefall control on all axes, tracking, and canopy skills at a level adequate to ensure safety in their return to the sport.
